Contact Your Members of Congress and ask them to vote "NO" on the American Health Care Act (ACHA)
The House bill to repeal the ACA was introduced yesterday. Called the American Health Care Act (AHCA), it contains several provisions that APSE is very concerned about, including massive cuts to Medicaid, the program that enables Americans to work and live in their communities thorough long-term services and supports. There is no other private or public system that provides the types of services and supports that Medicaid does. Slashing Medicaid presents a clear threat to Home-and Community-Based (HCBS) for Americans with disabilities and the providers that serve them and the families who support them. Please contact your Members of Congress and ask them to vote "NO" on this bill.
The AHCA is a giant budget cut to Medicaid. A per capita cap would make it far more difficult for states to meet the need for HCBS by cutting federal Medicaid funding by growing amounts over time. A per capita cap would reverse states’ progress in enabling people to be supported in their homes and communities .
